The Fond du Lac County executive says the opioid epidemic is having a significant impact on the county budget. Al Buechel says the county social services department is being impacted by opioid addiction. “Just a couple weekends ago they had to remove 13 kids who were all from different homes where there was opioid abuse.” Buechel told WFDL news. “That is our low light in this budget in that we can’t find adequate funding because of the property tax freeze.” The county board is joining a Wisconsin Counties Association lawsuit on behalf of certain drug manufacturers for the cost counties have incurred from increased services caused by the opioid epidemic.
