11-30-17 meth town hall will be streamed live on radioplusinfo.com

The head of Drug Free Communities of Fond du Lac County says methamphetamine addiction is catching up and even surpassing heroin addiction in some cases.  Ellen Sorensen says the public is invited to a town hall meeting Thursday evening at the Goodrich Little Theatre.  Sorensen says the entire community is impacted by the problem.  “The impact is immense,”  Sorensen told WFDL news.  “Its businesses who can’t hire employees who are sober, the cost associated with going through the hiring process just to have somebody fail a drug test, liability issues with people on the floor who may be high.”   Sorensen says children and schools are also impacted.  “Schools bear a lot of responsibility too because they have these poor children in  class.  The first year I started, the first day of school, a kindergartner had been pulled out (of class) because their mother had overdosed and died on heroin,”  Sorensen said.  “For the rest of that person’s life the first day of school is going to bring back terrible memories.”   The Town Hall starts at 6:3pm Thursday at the Goodrich Little Theatre.  The event will be streamed live on radioplusinfo.com.,
