A long prison sentence has been handed down for a convicted child sex offender found guilty of sexually assaulting a Fond du Lac woman. At a hearing Tuesday afternoon Fond du Lac judge Dale English sentenced Richard Forsyth II to 13 years in prison and seven years extended supervision. Forsyth was convicted earlier this year of second and fourth degree sexual assault. Police say Forsyth sexually assaulted a woman at a Second Street residence in the city of Fond du lac the day after Christmas. Assistant District attorney Kristin Menzl says the sentence is appropriate. “It’s always concerning when we see repeat behaviors,” Menzl told WFDL news. I think the judge balanced all of the characteristics that he needed to in the sentencing to come up with a fair sentence that protects the community and serves as punishment for the crime,” Menzl told WFDL news. Forsyth was convicted of sexually assaulting teenage girls in 1995 and 2002 and was on active supervision for failure to report to the sex offender registry.
