A Republican state lawmaker from Markesan says she is concerned about the impact some of the partial vetoes made by governor Tony Evers will have. The governor made 78 partial vetoes in signing the state budget. State representative Joan Ballweg says one veto changes how funding will be allocated for assistant district attorneys across the state. “Instead of using the list that we received from the Department of Justice and from the DAs, specific name positions were taken out, and the authority to assign those positions was given to the Department of Administration,” Ballweg told WFDL news. Ballweg says she is also concerned the governor reduced $90 million earmarked for local road improvements to $75 million and allows the DOT to use the funds as they see fit.
