A University of Wisconsin Oshkosh research project shows that contrary to what you saw in the movie Jurrasic Park, Velociraptors likely did not hunt in packs like dogs. Dr. Joseph Fredrickson is a vertebrate paleontologist and director of the Weis Earth Science museum on the UWO Fox Cities campus. Fredrickson led a study of raptor teeth that found the diet of the raptors made it unlikely they hunted in packs. Fredrickson says in big pack hunting mammals, for example, the diet between the babies and adults is similar, but not so with Velociraptors. The raptors made famous in the 1993 blockbuster movie Jurrasic Park were portrayed as highly intelligient, apex predators that worked in groups to hunt large prey. The study was published in the peer-reviewed journal Palaeogeography, Palaeoclimatology, Paleaoecology.
