A retired Ripon College political scientist says president Trump may be jumping the gun a bit when he predicts he will lose to Joe Biden in November. The president made the comment during a Town Hall interview on Fox News in Green Bay last week, stating that Biden “is going to be president because some people don’t love me.” Poliitcal scientist Marty Farrell says the president is right that his approval ratings have plummeted over his handling of the coronavirus pandemic and protests. But Farrell says if Trump wants to turn things around he needs to take a very clear and consistent position on the pandemic and race relations. At the same time Farrell says he agrees with former president Barack Obama who told Biden donors recently that no one can assume Trump’s struggles mean he can’t be reelected in November.
