A group of residents opposed to a proposed solar farm in the Lomira area is holding a community meeting next week. Lomira Village Board member Scott Ritger says the 100 megawatt Springfield Solar Farm would encompass nearly 900 acres of farmland north of Lomira to northeast of Brownsville. Ritger says the proposal conflicts with the village of Lomira’s published plan, noting the village just recently invested about $6 million in infrastructure to benefit the community. Ritger says he’s not opposed to solar energy, just not in the location that it’s proposed. Ritger says area residents have formed an opposition group and public petition to let the state Public Service Commission know how residents feel. A community meeting starts at 7pm Tuesday October 6 at the Lomira Municipal building.
