The Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation secretary says a new emergency order limiting public gatherings is designed to get a handle on rising COVID-19 cases to ease the burden on the state’s hospital system. WEDC secretary Missy Hughes says Wisconsin is struggling, especially in the Fox Valley where there have been spikes in cases and hospitals that are strained. Hughes says it’s a strategic approach to have the emergency order in place through two incubation periods to slow the course of the virus. Hughes says she’s concerned about the impact the continued spread of the virus is having on businesses.
