The city of Ripon dispatch center is consolidating with the Fond du Lac County communications center. After voting earlier this month to keep Ripon’s dispatch center separate, the Ripon Common Council reversed itself this week by voting in favor of consolidation. Fond du Lac County director of communications and emergency management Bobbie Hicken says Ripon is the final community in the county to join since the communications center was consolidated in 2004. Hicken says the consolidation process will take place throughout the year. Hicken says consolidation will provide Ripon with more technology than they have had and more dispatchers. The move is expected to save the city of Ripon approximately $4 million over the next ten years.
