With dangerous cold temperatures blanketing Wisconsin this week, ReadyWisconsin is urging everyone to take precautions to keep themselves and their loved ones safe. Ready Wisconsin’s Andrew Beckett limit your time outdoors, and know the signs of hypothermia. If you, or anyone around you starts showing hypothermia symptoms, including excessive shivering, exhaustion, confusion and slurred speech, seek medical help immediately. Beckett says when it’s this cold, it doesn’t take long for frostbite to set in. In your home make sure your furnace is working properly. Do not attempt to heat your home or garage with gasoline or propane heaters or a grill. Test smoke and carbon monoxide detectors to make sure they are working.
