The Waupun Fire Chief is warning people against outdoor burning. The state DNR lists the fire danger as high or very high for 71 of the state’s 72 counties including Dodge and Fond du lac counties. Waupun Fire Chief B.J. DeMaa says things are very dry, and there’s still a period of time before vegetation starts to green up. “Folks are just really encourage if there is any type of burning be extremely careful,” DeMaa told WFDL news. “With the lower humidities this time of year, if you can avoid burning that’s still the best approach.” More than 30 wildfires were reported throughout the state over the weekend.
