Two people are missing and feared drowned after falling out of a canoe on Lake Winnebago. Shortly before 8:30pm the Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call from one of the individuals in the canoe about a mile north of the Fond du Lac River outlet…north of Lakeside Park West. Shortly after placing the call both victims fell into the water and neither was wearing a life jacket. The Sheriff’s Office Boat Patrol and Water Rescue Team and a U.S. Coast Guard helicopter was used in a search that lasted nearly five hours, but rescuers have been unable to locate either victim. Weather conditions included sustained south winds of 25 miles an hour gusting to 40 miles an hour with four to five foot waves. The search will resume this morning.
