4-2-21 fdl county sheriff’s deputy injured following traffic stop

A Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s deputy received minor injuries after being dragged by a vehicle while conducting a traffic stop.  The incident happened shortly after 8:30pm Thursday on Interstate 41 near County Highway B after the deputy pulled a vehicle over for traveling without working taillights.  The deputy asked for back-up after detecting an odor of  marijuana and two state patrol troopers arrived on the scene.   The driver cooperated with orders and exited the vehicle but the passenger moved over   to the driver seat and sped away, dragging the deputy and one of the troopers a short distance before being thrown from the vehicle in the southbound lanes of I-41.  The suspect is a 43 year old Milwaukee man wanted  for charges of Recklessly Endangering Safety, Battery to Law Enforcement Officers, Fleeing or Eluding Law Enforcement, Operate Vehicle without Owner’s Consent, Hit and Run Cause Injury and Resisting or Obstructing an Officer.  The Sheriff’s Office is  currently working with Milwaukee area law enforcement to locate the suspect.
