Groundbreaking ceremonies have been held for a new community wellness center at Rock River Intermediate School. The Rock River Wellness Center is a collaborative effort between the Waupun School District and Church Health Services. Church Health Services executive director Thea O’Connor says the center will provide counseling areas, procedure rooms, along with a meeting area for use by community health care professionals, students and families. O’Connor says two factors that are impacting mental health issues with children…social media, and poverty. O’Connor says there is no stigma talking about your emotions and if you’re feeling good or if you’re feeling bad. Construction on the new space will begin at the end of the school year.
