Republican law professor Ryan Owens he’s running for state attorney general because there are too many issues that are not being addressed by our leaders. Owens says he is focusing on freedom, safety and prosperity. Following the death of George Floyd and subsequent protests last summer in Wisconsin and across the country, Owens says he does not believe there is a systemic racisim problem in law enforcement. “No I don’t believe that,” Owens told AM 1170’s Between the Lines program. “When you take a look at the people who serve in these capacities, the vast, vast, vast majority of them are good people who do those jobs because they want to help,” Owens said. “That’s not to say there aren’t some bad apples. What really bothers me is that right now the left and Democrats are focusing on police. Defund the police, defund the police.” Owens will square off against Fond du Lac County District Attorney Eric Toney in a Republican primary, more than a year from now to run against Democratic attorney General Josh Kaul.
