The Fond du Lac outdoor swimming pools are operating this summer on an abbreviated season. Parks director John Redmond says the Fairgrounds Aquatic Center is open with a modified schedule starting this week, closing at the end of the month. Redmond says the problem is a shortage of lifeguards. Redmond says the lifeguard shortage is a problem statewide and across the country. Redmond says it wasn’t too long ago when being a lifeguard was a highly sought after summer jobs for high school students. The Taylor Park Pool opened with a modified schedule in the middle of June, and will be open in August when the Fairgrounds pool closes.
