11-11-21 fdl county board okays temporary housing for violent sex offenders

The Fond du Lac County Board has authorized the purchase of a temporary mobile home to house Chapter 980 violent sex offenders on the county highway garage property.   Sheriff Ryan Waldschmidt says what he likes about the property is that there are sheriff’s deputies coming and going from that site all hours of the day and night.  Waldschmidt says unlike another location that houses Chapter 980 sex offenders on Nitschke Road, the Highway garage has a lot of eyes and ears from a law enforcement perspective 24 hours a day, every day of the week.  The estimated  cost for a mobile home on the property is about $100,000, and the county would be able to collect rent from the state.
