1-12-22 fdl school district universal masking

The Fond du Lac School District superintendent says universal masking is necessary to continue in-person instruction during this latest COVID-19 surge.  Superintendent Dr. Jeff Fleig instituted the policy effective until January 24 following a jump in positive COVID-19 cases among students and staff.  “Before winter break we had 48 active student cases, first week back we had 156,” Dr. Fleig told WFDL news.  “…our staff cases went from eight to 35.”   Dr. Fleig says last Friday six teachers were out sick at one elementary school and only two substitutes available.  Dr. Fleig says he’s concerned that if masking is not universal schools will be forced to go back to remote  learning.  Dr. Fleig says he hopes the mask mandate can be lifted when the District re-elevaluates the COVID-19 numbers January 24.
