Moraine Park Technical College will survey a random sampling of homes in the district starting Friday and the survey results could lead to a building referendum in the fall. MPTC president Bonnie Baerwald says the goal of the survey is to help the College obtain input on future business and industry needs within the district, and the growth and improvements that are required to help meet those needs. Baerwald says the survey will ask questions about five different potential projects that include building expansion, significant remodeling, and land acquisition. She says the survey also includes costs associated with enhanced technology and equipment purchases. Baerwald says two projects would be in Fond du Lac. One to address advanced manufacturing and manufacturing and building trades. The other project would address health care and health service programming and child care. A third project at the West Bend campus would also address advanced manufacturing. A fourth project in Beaver Dam would be a fire training center, and the fifth project would be a regional training center in Green Lake County. Baerwald says the college needs to develop a plan to update programs and facilities to continue to fuel the growing business and industry sector. Ten thousand surveys are being mailed to residents throughout the MPTC District. Those who are randomly selected should reply by April 25. Baerwald says final survey results will be reported at Moraine Park Technical College board meeting on May 18, and a decision could be made at that time on whether to move forward with a referendum that would be placed on the November ballot.
