The Fond du Lac Police Department will be holding a public community notification meeting on Thursday, August 4, 2022 at 6:00p.m. in conference room A at the Fond du Lac Police Department, 126 N. Main Street for a sex offender that is being released to 457 Thomas Street in Fond du Lac on Tuesday, August 9, 2022.
The Fond du Lac Police Department has been notified by the Wisconsin Department of Corrections, that Chad A Maertz, is being released back into the Fond du Lac Community on or about August 9, 2022 after serving 20-years of prison time for child abduction.
Maertz was convicted in 2002 in Fond du Lac County Circuit Court for Abduction of a Child in which a 16- year-old female stranger who was riding her bike in a secluded area was chased by Maertz. Maertz then grabbed the victim’s bike and attempted to lure her into his vehicle. Maertz was also convicted in 1987 in Washington County Circuit Court for 2 counts of 1st Degree Sexual
Assault and 2 counts of Child Enticement, in which he forced a 6 and 11-year-old female strangers into secluded areas and engaged in sexually assaultive behaviors. Chad A Maertz is on extended supervision until August 11, 2032.
